Lufthansa Expects EU Antitrust Approval for Ita Airways Acquisition by 2024

Lufthansa expects the green light from the EU Antitrust for the acquisition of 41% of Ita Airways “by the beginning of 2024”. We can read it in the company’s press release on the third quarter accounts.

Regarding Lufthansa’s entry into Italy, the EU Commission is “in contact with the parties to discuss the transaction before its official notification. These pre-notification contacts are continuous and are part of the standard process for the evaluation of a complex operation”. This is what the spokesperson of the community executive Daniel Ferrie explains, when asked about Lufthansa’s forecast of being able to have the green light from the EU Antitrust at the beginning of 2024. The operation, he reports, “has not been formally notified to the Commission”.

Lufthansa, revenues at 10.3 billion (+8%) profit at 1.2 billion

The Lufthansa group closes the third quarter with revenues up 8% to 10.3 billion euros, marking the best quarter ever in terms of revenues, net profit growing to 1.2 billion over the same period of the year last year (+47%) and an adjusted Ebit of 1.46 billion (+31%).
