Lucas’ College Senior Thesis, Student Film.

Hi! My name’s Lucas! I’m a college student at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and this Fall I will be entering my senior year. Being a Film/Video major, every student has to produce and edit one last and final film before they graduate. We will spend all year creating a film for our class, and overall, for our portfolios. This film will help people and employers see my creativity in a more elevated way and also put my name out there as a filmmaker. Donations will go towards costumes, props, and food for my crew and talents during our video shoots this fall! Thank you so much! I’ll be so appreciative of any help that people can give! Thank you, thank you.

Here is my Youtube Channel to get a better idea of my work and style.

And here is a Synopsis of my Thesis I’ll be working on this school year:

My thesis will encompass themes of identity issues, ways of self-expression, playful narcissism, and the ways media can influence someone’s personality. It will be an experimental narrative where I will mix music-video-styled editing with more cinematic scenes. The overall story will be about a gay young man, Taylor (early 20s), who finds it difficult to feel comfortable in his body and latches onto personalities and people he deems to be “perfect”. One person he is obsessed with is a pop star, Reve. He loves her music and finds her to be superb in every way: with dating, presenting confidence, having a beautiful body, and being conventionally attractive. At times he sometimes dresses in drag and wears Reve’s iconic black heels and wig; this is when he feels perfect — when he looks and feels different from his everyday self. While this character finds the pop star to be ideal, the audience will be exposed to how Reve’s image that is portrayed on the TV screens isn’t so true to how things are in her personal life. As the film progresses, the main character comes face to face with the real popstar and she shows him what it means to perfect: to be true to yourself.
