LSDP leaves A. Rudomanskis: “I am less human for most partisans in the Seimas”

The LSDP has included the following sentence in the 2020 Seimas election program: “We will adopt the Law on Partnership, which will allow same-sex couples to legalize their family relations.”

However, 5 out of 13 representatives of this party voted “against” the amendments to the Partnership Law during the submission to the Seimas, two more parliamentarians did not participate in the voting.

According to A. Rudomanskis, the chairman of the Tolerant Youth Association, this was one of the reasons why he decided to leave the party.

And in it, the politician said he faced both a homophobic attitude and gossip.

Encourages others to consider membership

“I am leaving the LSDP party. More than 10 years of active activity, despite homophobic consent on the first day of admission to the organization.

While in the party, I have consistently encouraged my party colleagues to discover and understand the social democratic values of freedom, equality and solidarity.

Personally, I have repeatedly had to endure hatred, disgusting gossip, deliberate blockages against me or people dear to me in order to carry out activities in the party, and so on.

After Gintautas Paluckas became the chairman, the culture in the party started to improve, but unfortunately, the breakthrough did not take place, ”A. Rudomanskis wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.

“The leader of the left convictions called on my friends and comrades to help in solidarity and contribute to the strengthening of the values of freedom and equality.

Together with them, we conducted trainings, conferences, formed internal party organizational groups, carried the LSDP flag to human rights events, established international relations with the European left, wrote countless articles, participated in various television programs, drafted laws, election campaigns, etc.

However, today I urge everyone I invited to the party to consider being in it without hurry, because I am no longer asking you to stay in the LSDP – decide for yourself, ”he continued.

He wished to turn to the values on the left

A. Rudomanskis assured that he understood that for the majority of LSDP members in the Seimas he is “less human”.

“In the context of the presentation of the draft law on partnership, I realized that I am less human for the majority of LSDP members, sincerely supported representatives in the Seimas.

Even the Conservatives surpassed the LSDP, which attributes itself to the European Progressive Team.

Even the Conservatives surpassed the LSDP, which attributes itself to the European Progressive Team.

I am ashamed and disappointed that those who profess the true values of the left have not been debating human rights for decades – the true left guarantees not only equal rights but also opportunities. Because people live here and now, “he commented.

A. Rudomanskis appealed to facebook friends and friends in real life and asked not to complain about the LSDP:

“I have always been an active and militant defender of human rights – you were wrong to blame and blame LSDP members who do not support human rights.”

Leaving the party to its newly elected chairman Vilija Blinkevičiūtė, A. Rudomanskis wished to turn to the left.

“I go out with no one and I believe that we will cooperate with some of my former colleagues in the future, because there are really like-minded people in the party.

As I leave the LSDP, I would like to wish the newly elected president and her team to turn to the left, despite the party’s bulldozer, which often runs unhindered through human rights and opportunities, protection of workers from exploitation and progress, “he concluded on Facebook.

Angry that LSDP “didn’t move”

Political scientist L. Gudžinskas also regretted how his fellow Social Democrats voted in presenting the Law on Partnership in the Seimas.

“I am angry and disappointed as a Social Democrat that we have not moved out in four years. Unlike most other parliamentary parties. The composition of the faction changed strongly, the percentage remained almost the same.

I take personal responsibility for not communicating enough with members of our group in explaining why this law is needed.

If, during the next vote, the Social Democrats’ support for the partnership institute remains the same or falls, I will consider my further efforts to bring about the ideological renewal of the party to no avail. I will make the appropriate decisions, “he wrote on Facebook.

L. Gudžinskas also thanked the members of the Seimas, “who are not always, as far as the rights and dignity of every person are respected and protected.”

Algirdas Sysas, the elder of the Social Democrat faction in the Seimas, was one of the ones who registered the draft Partnership Law, but the politician immediately warned that not everyone in the faction supports these amendments.

The Seimas rejected the draft on the legalization of gender-neutral partnership by a majority of votes – after the submission, 63 members of the Seimas voted for it, against 58, seven abstained.

In another vote, the draft was returned to the initiators for improvement. The latter hope that he will return to the Seimas in the autumn session.
