“Love, Victor”: third season for queer coming-of-age series

Both critics and viewers were enthusiastic, so a second season was ordered, which started on June 11th. At the center of the series is Victor (Michael Cimino), who as a new student at Creekwood High School has to face the usual challenges of an adolescent. In the first season he comes into contact with Simon (Nick Robinson), who has become a little celebrity, because he went through something similar to Victor: He is gay, but has not yet come out – also for fear of the reaction of his new one In the school and city where his family has just moved.

At the beginning of the second season he and the openly gay Benji (George Sear) get together, but new problems arise for Victor: He has to go with his family, who learned of his coming out, with his ex-girlfriend Mia ( Rachel Hilson), whose heart is broken, and how to deal with the difficulties of being an openly gay elite athlete. In addition, the relationship between his friends Felix (Anthony Turpel) and Lake (Bebe Wood) is in crisis, while his parents are slowly finding each other again. Since the season ends with a decent cliffhanger, fans should be happy about the renewed extension.

Ana Ortiz, James Martinez, Isabella Ferreira, Mateo Fernandez, Mason Gooding and Anthony Keyvan are again in the lead roles. Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger are the showrunners, and 20th Television is the production company behind the series. How many episodes the third season will have and when it will start has not yet been determined.

“Love, Victor” has a somewhat curious development history behind it: Originally the series was developed for the “family-friendly” provider Disney +, but due to issues such as sex, alcohol and adultery in the USA, the adult-oriented service hulu was ultimately used. In Germany and in other countries where hulu does not exist as a provider, “Love, Victor” finally came to Disney + via the “detour” star, where the second season has currently been running weekly since June 18. Since this was produced directly for hulu, its content is a lot freer and bolder than the first.
