Louis Robitaille’s turn to compare Kaiden Guhle to Shea Weber

For the Canadiens, Kaiden Guhle is probably the most promising prospect among those who have never played a game in the NHL. The defender is a real colossus who is really not afraid of physical play and who displays all the qualities of quiet strength.

He has often been compared to Shea Weber since joining the Canadiens, and when you watch him play, you quickly understand why. He doesn’t necessarily have the level of a guy like Weber (at least, for now), but he’s rock solid and he never rushes the game.

Guhle had bluntly claimed that he is trying to draw inspiration from Weber in his game.

And the more the months go by, the more the comparisons with the captain of the CH are present. Passing through the airwaves of 91.9 SportsLouis Robitaille (who is one of the coaches for Team Canada Junior) also noted that he sees similarities between Guhle and Weber.

Robitaille also notes that Guhle doesn’t have the caliber of a guy like Weber, but he sees a lot of similarities in the style of the two men. And not just on the ice (where their styles are almost identical, aside from the side they shoot from), but also off of it.

Guhle may not yet have earned the same respect as Weber, but it should be remembered that he is the captain of his team in the WHL and could actually take on that role with ECJ.

The Quebecer also relates that Pier-Olivier Roy (Victoriaville) crossed paths with Guhle during the ÉCJ summer camp and that he was greatly impressed by the presence of the young defender.

Robitaille adds that Guhle is even bigger and taller than last year and that he demonstrates exemplary professionalism. He says Guhle is “a pro who plays at the junior level”.

We could easily see that during his stay with the Laval Rocket, where he looked like a fish in the water.

Guhle continues to garner praise from his coaches pretty much everywhere he goes. He is likely to have an important role with ECJ this winter (his performances during summer camp help solidify his place as one of the best defensemen on this team) and can be seen in action for Edmonton during the holidays.
