This week, fans of The Lord of the Rings a nice surprise in the form of anime movie War of the Rohirrim. That film is being developed by the studio behind the films of Peter Jackson, with Philippa Boyens – screenwriter of the films – as creative consultant.Central in The Lord of the Rings: The War of Rohirrim tells the story of a former king of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand, and the efforts he made to protect his people. The film also looks at Helm’s Deep and so the audience can learn some nice things about it.
Fans are overjoyed
Fans of The Lord of the Rings obviously didn’t see this news coming. Given the reception of the first six films and the way the franchise is expanding in the coming years, this wasn’t a huge surprise (after all, more material is more money), but still.
Hardly anyone had foreseen this exact announcement. And that is exactly what makes fans very enthusiastic, as they say on social media. Here’s a sampling of the many reactions on Twitter:

In the meantime, Amazon Prime Video is also working on a television series in the franchise, for which a budget of no less than 500 million dollars has been set aside. That series delves into the first war waged against Sauron.
