López Miras discards for now the cancellation of major events due to the coronavirus | Radio lorca

The president of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, said on Monday that the situation “today” of the coronavirus, with four cases diagnosed in the community, does not indicate that massive events in the Region should be canceled.

During a visit to Lorca, López Miras anticipated that in the afternoon he will preside over an interdepartmental meeting of the Murcian Government to analyze the current situation and in which the measures to be adopted in the coming hours will be coordinated.

Along with the already known recommendations on personal hygiene, the president has appealed to the “prudence” and the “common sense” of Murcia for the adoption of preventive habits.

He added that in the Region “there is an excellent healthcare system, with great professionals willing to take on this situation.”

The Murcian chief executive has called for “normality” within the exceptional nature imposed by the expansion of the Covid-19 throughout the planet.

As the situation requires, “the necessary measures will be implemented” and he insisted that this situation “changes every day and we will not know how we will be in a few days,” he said.

The president was accompanied by the Minister for Business, Industry and Spokespersons, Ana Martínez Vidal, who recalled that Murcia has been the first Spanish autonomous community to launch the coronavirus surveillance committee, led by the Instituto de Fomento, to monitor the incidence of the disease in the productive sectors of the Region.

Martínez Vidal has indicated that the business confederations of the main cities of the Region, the chambers of commerce of Lorca, Murcia and Cartagena, representatives of the most relevant productive sectors and exporting companies, are part of that committee.

At the moment, the sectors that are suffering the greatest impact, not yet quantitatively evaluated, are those of furniture – for lack of supplies and raw materials imported from China – and the agri-food industry.

The commission will meet in principle on a monthly basis, although the periodicity could be modified, and in it information will be exchanged on different sectors and the Info,

The counselor recalled that eight international trade missions have been preemptively canceled and within the region’s foreign promotion plan, work is being done to find alternatives for opening new markets and to help affected companies.
