Longuyon. The skatepark has found its audience

The Longuyonnais skatepark, located in the immediate vicinity of the intercommunal swimming pool, at the top of the avenue du Général-de-Gaulle, is a great success with young Longuyonnais. This was seen by Jean-Pierre Jacque, the mayor of the city.

This new sports equipment, recently put into service, is enjoying good attendance, especially among scooter enthusiasts, although it is intended for the use of skates, rollerblades and BMX.

However, the town hall recalls that the age required for its use is set at 8 years (excluding supervised activities) and that the presence of at least two people is essential for safety, such as the compulsory wearing of protection (helmet, wrist guards, knee pads and elbow pads).

Soon a protective fence

At a cost of € 67,000 including tax for municipal finances, the play area will very soon be equipped with a protective fence.

“Skateboarding will be an Olympic discipline in 2021 (if all goes well) and in 2024 in France. That of Longuyon has a unique layout in the region. We must organize, if all goes well at the end of June, an inauguration with a demonstration and an initiation of an association in Thionville ”, specifies Jean-Pierre Jacque.
