Loc Keeper makes the Piplica shortly before the end of the promotion game
Leipzig has a team in the Champions League, but for many locals a fourth division team is the city’s team: Lokomotive Leipzig. Next season Lok may be at least third-class, at the moment it is playing relegation matches against SC Verl.
The first leg at home ended 2-2 yesterday – due to a serious mistake by goalie Fabian Guderitz. As if he were the reborn Tomislav Piplica, he let himself be defeated by the harmless arc lamp at the 2-1 level shortly before the end:
“We don’t put his head down,” said trainer Wolfgang Wolf in the MDR. “We are a team and will see that we make up for that in Verl.”
Goalkeeper Gudewitz had played well until then, the coach said, «and then a lapsus happens. Verl is located in the district of Gütersloh, where the coronavirus broke out in the meat factory of Schalke boss Clemens Tönnies.
