Logitech G815 | Recension | GameElite.se

Logitech has worked hard on the design of the G815, a mechanical keyboard that comes with three types of switches.

I recently tested the wireless keyboard G915 TKL. The G815 has the same basic design as the G915 TKL. However, the G815 is a full-size corded keyboard. In terms of design, I like the G815. It is black and has a stable, thin aluminum frame and low-profile keys. This makes the keyboard thin. The total height is only 22 mm. The edges around are fairly small, which gives a slim range. There is no wrist support which is a weakness. On the other hand, the thin design reduces the need for wrist support.

The keyboard is full-sized, ie with a numeric part. There are some extra keys and buttons. At the far left are five dedicated macro keys that can be provided with macros and other functions. In addition, you can program optional keys as needed. All programming takes place in G Hub, a comprehensive and easy-to-use software used for all Logitech gaming products.

There are also some round keys, or should I call them buttons? These are rubbery and the impact is a bit diffuse, which is a weakness. Above F1 to F4 there are four buttons with which you change profile. There are a total of three profiles. Above F5 and F6 are two buttons. One is game mode and it turns off the Windows keys. IG Hub allows you to program which keys to turn off.

The second button changes the lighting. A short press changes the brightness. If you hold down the light button together with a number key, you change the light mode. Here I have to take the opportunity to complain about the manual which is clearly substandard. You only explain how to connect the keyboard. The function of the light button, for example, is not explained. A complete manual can instead be found on Logitech’s support page.

In the upper corner, at the far left, there are four convenient multimedia keys and a knob (scroll) to adjust the volume.

The G815 has an advanced RGB lighting called Lightsync where each key can be programmed in millions of colors. As I wrote, the lighting can be changed from the keyboard but also via G Hub. There are quite advanced functions for the lighting.

The fact that the G815 is a thin keyboard is partly due to the low profile switches. The mechanical, so-called GL switches are manufactured by Kaihl and are available in three models. The tactile switch has a small clear bulge. Clicky also has tactile feedback but also has an audible click. Finally, there is a linear switch that has a soft touch.

I have tested the tactile version of the Logitech G815 and it is a keyboard that is very comfortable to use for both games and office chores. Stylish design, advanced RGB lighting and good programming capabilities make the G815 worth investing in.
