Logistics giant Maersk announced a complete cessation of operations in Russia

“In light of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Maersk, as a responsible participant in the transport market, has taken the decision to terminate operations in Russia and sell the company’s assets in Russia,” the letter said.

Maersk added that the phase-out has already begun: the company promised to fulfill the orders made before that, the company intends to return the containers imported to Russia by the end of April 2022.

“At the moment, we do not have clarity on the prospects for the resumption of activities in Russia,” Maersk concluded.

The three largest container companies in the world – Swiss MSC, Danish Maersk and French CMA-CGM – announced that they are no longer accepting applications. for the transportation of containers to and from Russia on March 1.

At the same time, MSC and Maersk said they would continue to supply essential goods to the Russian Federation, such as food, medical supplies and humanitarian supplies.
