LNSO invites you to enjoy a great duo of musicians in the concert “Portraits. Oskars Bokanovs and Tommaso Pratola ”- Culture, art

January 20 at 19.00 The Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) invites spectators to indulge in the sounds of music in the “LNSO Chamber Music” concert “Portraits. Oskars Bokanovs and Tommaso Pratola”, where concertmasters of two LNSO groups will meet. In the first part we will observe the meeting of flutist Tommāso Pratola with pianist Agnes Egliņš, while in the second part we will watch the match between double bassist Oskars Bokanovs and pianist Rihards Plesšanovs. The musicians will enchant the audience with the subtle intonations of French, saturated Italian and Czech music. The music of LNSO resident composer Andris Dzenītis will also be performed. The concert is supported by the State Cultural Capital Fund.

Italian musician Tommāso Pratola has been the concertmaster of the LNSO flute group since 2019. The musician has won a special award for performing contemporary music at the prestigious International Eola wind instrument competition 2021 in Düsseldorf. He won the Severino Gaceloni Prize and the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research Prize in November 2012 Arts Award (Matera). Pratola participated in the Bayreuth Young Artists Festival (2015), Classical Music Festival Pacific Japan (2018-2019) and the Zermatt Music Festival (2018-2019).

Pianist Agnese Egliņa won the Grand Music Award 2020 in the category “For outstanding performance throughout the year”, as well as in the LMB 2010 category “For outstanding work in the ensemble”. The pianist has won several international competitions. By collaborating with musicians in various chamber ensembles, Egliņa has become one of the most sought-after pianists in Latvia. As a soloist, she has performed with the LNSO, playing the piano concert of Alexander Scriabin with the conductor Olari Elts and premiering the piano concert of Kārlis Lāčs with the conductor Māris Sirmo.

Tommaso Pratola and Agnese Egliņa have chosen a French and Italian music program: works by Jean-Marie Leclera, Alfredo Casella, Francis Pulenka and Henri Dittier, as well as an opus by LNSO resident composer Andris Dzenitis Kali Yantra.

Oskars Bokanovs has been the concertmaster of the LNSO double bass group since 2017. Winner of several international competitions – won competitions in Brno (2010) and Blatna (2016), won competitions in Holice (2016, Czech Republic) and Wroclaw (2016, Poland). During his studies he obtained JVLMA and Swedbank “Young Musician of the Year Award 2014”. Pianists Richard Pleshanov gives solo concerts in Switzerland, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Russia, etc. As a soloist performs with Kremerata Baltica, Sinfonietta Riga, Liepāja SO and LNSO, cooperate with the Latvian Radio Choir, are a quartet Quadra musician.

In the reading of Oskars Bokanovs and Rihards Pleshanovs we will hear the sonata of the Czech authors Adolf Mišek and Fantišek Hertl, as well as the LNSO resident composer Andris Dzenītis Iron-Wood.
