Weston McKennie is in the interest of several clubs from the Premier League, Primera División, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga. Liverpool would also be in the race to take over the Schalke 04 player who has indicated that he wants to leave.
That reports CBS Sports. McKennie would like to leave Schalke after the mediocre past Bundesliga season and so there are plenty of teams interested. The 21-year-old American has played 91 games for Schalke so far and was one of the few stars of the Gelsenkirchen squad this season.
McKennie wants to leave for a team that plays in a European league, Champions League or Europa League. Most notable club mentioned is the Liverpool of Georginio Wijnaldum and Virgil van Dijk. Everton, Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers would also monitor McKennie’s situation.
It is unclear how much Schalke wants to catch for McKennie, who still has a contract until mid-2024 at the Veltins Arena. Other Bundesliga clubs are also interested, Wolfsburg is mentioned as a possible next club of the American.
