LIVE | Infections in Germany decrease, New Zealand corona-free | Inland

New Zealand is virtually corona-free again. Last month, almost all measures against the corona virus were withdrawn in the country and from Thursday the rules no longer apply to the city of Auckland, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced on Monday.

In Auckland, there were still infections when the rest of the country was declared corona-free. There people still have to keep their distance from each other and face masks are still mandatory in public transport. But no new infections have been detected in Auckland in the past ten days.

On Monday, one new infection was diagnosed throughout the country. That was with a New Zealander who returned from abroad. The total number of infections in New Zealand thus comes to 1499. In addition, 25 people have died from the effects of the virus.

Germany

In Germany, 1,382 new corona infections have been identified in the past 24 hours. With that, the total number of corona cases in the country has passed 300,000, reports the Robert Koch Institute, the German state institute for public health. 9,534 people have died in Germany from the effects of the virus.

The number of new infections is considerably lower than the day before. On Sunday, 2279 new cases were added. There were also fewer than the day before.
