LIVE | GGD: 70 Wageningen students in quarantine | Inland

The GGDs in the country identified 571 newly diagnosed corona infections between Tuesday and Wednesday morning. That’s more than the day before, when the counter reached 415 positive tests.

The trend remains that the virus is currently mainly spreading among relatively young people: half of the positively tested people are between the ages of 20 and 40, 13 percent are under 20, a quarter are between 40 and 60 years and only 12 percent is 60 years or older, according to the latest figures published on the ‘corona dashboard’ of the government.

Wageningen

The GGD Gelderland-Midden is keeping a close eye on corona infections in Wageningen now that three clusters have already been discovered in that city, as well as a number of individual cases. The opening of a test street in Wageningen was even brought forward for eleven days, to make it as easy as possible for residents to have themselves tested for corona as soon as they experience complaints.

The three clusters of positively tested persons consist of seventeen young people in total. In addition, another seventy students are in quarantine. According to the GGD, there is daily contact with these students, mainly from the agricultural university. They must have themselves tested if they get appropriate complaints with corona.

Student houses

According to the GGD, all infections surfaced around the introduction. These are roommates, people who slept in a student house during the introduction and guests of a student house. A number of infected students have been isolated.

No seat of fire has yet been found in Wageningen itself. As far as is known, the individual corona cases in Wageningen have no relationship with the infected students, but the GGD is still investigating this further. The municipality and Wageningen university have been informed.
