In the first week that people could have themselves tested for corona at the GGDs, a thousand carriers of the virus were detected. That said director of public health of the GGD Hollands Midden, Sjaak de Gouw, in the TV program Op1.
In this first week, 90,000 unique callers called the free appointment line (0800-1202). This led to 59,090 appointments for a test, of which 49,228 have now been taken. About a thousand of them were found positive, which amounts to 2 percent, according to De Gouw.
The national appointment number is intended for people who have complaints that may be related to corona, such as sneezing and coughing. Special test locations have been set up throughout the country.
