Lithuanian Ministry of Defense signs agreement on armament of “Bayraktar” for Ukraine – Abroad – News

Turkey and Baykar, the manufacturer of these drones, reportedly decided to donate a modern Bayraktar TB2 fighter jet with all optical and basic equipment to Lithuania after learning about the donations collected in Lithuania. One and a half million of the donations will go to the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense for the arming of the drone, and the remaining 4.4 million euros will be used for humanitarian, defense and reconstruction assistance to Ukraine, as requested by Turkey.

“Turkey will donate to Lithuania any unmanned aerial vehicle, which the Lithuanians have already decided to give the name” Vanagas “, but the Ministry of Defense will ensure that it is fully equipped with all necessary weapons before handing it over to Ukraine,” said Defense Minister Arvīds Anušausks.

The ministry says it will start purchasing air-to-ground missiles for the drone by the end of the month. It is planned that in the coming weeks the Lithuanian Air Force will deliver the aircraft to Lithuania for later handing over, together with all the armaments, to the defenders of Ukraine.
