Lithuania has received international recognition in the field of lasers

“I congratulate the esteemed G. Račiukaitis and I am glad that Lithuania is among the world leaders in laser production. This was not a short path – the first laser beam in Lithuania was illuminated 56 years ago, and now lasers developed in Lithuania can be found on all continents, they are used by 95 of the world’s 100 best universities.

The activities of our academic community and business prove that even a geographically small region can be a very important player in the laser market, which produces high value-added products and provides state-of-the-art services, ”says Jovita Neliupšienė, Deputy Minister of Economics and Innovation.

In recent days, Vilnius has become the heart of the European laser sector – the annual general meeting of the European Photonics Industry Consortium (EPIC) took place here on April 7-8.

EPIC is the world’s leading industry association that promotes the sustainable development of photonics organizations in Europe. This association represents more than 750 companies, fosters an active photonic ecosystem, promotes technological and commercial progress, and provides various assistance to companies.

The association publishes market and technology reports, organizes technical seminars and business roundtable discussions, supports EU funding proposals, promotes lobbying, education and training activities, and presents the sector at exhibitions.
