1. On the ears: podcasts that are worth billions

The SWR2 business magazine is about the “billion dollar market podcasts”: What do Apple and Spotify’s podcast offensives look like? How is the currently most successful German podcast created – das “Coronavirus-Update” from NDR Info? What is there to say about the Joe Rogan phenomenon? And who can hear all of this anyway? Tobias Frey brought in experts on these topics, among others.

2. The conversation – guest: Henning Lobin

Henning Lobin is director of the Leibniz Institute for the German Language in Mannheim and author of the book “Language battle”. In an interview with NDR Kultur, he explains, “The means by which this struggle is being carried out, explains why the beauty of language – and its alleged ‘disfigurement’ – is often circumscribed using metaphors from biology, and emphatically argues that people should not Establish political and social attitudes just because they are for or against the gender star ”.

4. How innovation can empower journalism

Christopher Buschow is junior professor for organization and networked media at the University of Weimar and one of the authors an expert opinion on promoting innovation in journalism (PDF). On May 18, Buschow gave a half-hour keynote speech on promoting innovation in German media companies, which you can look up at the MDR.
5. Failure – but please make a run-up!

The current issue of “Druckausgleich”, the podcast with and for young media professionals, is about failure: “How much we would like to straighten out our résumés sometimes. 6. How do you do a Eurovision Song Contest in Corona times?

The former BILDblog boss Lukas Heinser has been part of the German delegation at the Eurovision Song Contest as editorial support since 2013.
