List of the Richest and Poorest Countries in Europe, Can You Guess?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia It is undeniable, the European continent is famous as a continent with many rich and developed countries. On average, countries in Europe are known to be prosperous and have very high per capita incomes.

But recently, the Central Bank of the European Union (EU) has released a report on the average holdings of financial assets in the 27 European Union countries. In that data, the Danish people are listed as the richest.

Quoting CNBC International, Sunday (04/07/2021), the average Danish public had 1.88 million Danish Krona or equivalent to Rp. 4.3 billion in financial assets in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Even so, the average Danish citizen has a fairly high debt of up to 566 thousand krona or the equivalent of Rp 1.3 billion. This was also confirmed by the Danish central bank, Danmarks Nationalbank, which stated that most of the debt was in banks, of which 86% were filled by collateralized debt with real estate.

“Thus, Denmark’s debt is largely offset by the value of its housing wealth, which is not included in financial wealth,” the central bank explained.

Furthermore, the Danish central bank also emphasized that although this wealth is average, there are significant differences between individuals. For example, residents with the highest incomes tend to have more assets and liabilities, while older people tend to have larger pensions.

Meanwhile, Luxembourg residents are in second place with an average asset ownership of 1.59 million Danish Krona or Rp. 3.68 billion, the Netherlands is in third place with 1.58 million Danish Krona or Rp. 3.64 billion, and Sweden in fourth place with 1.51 Danish krone which is equivalent to Rp 3.48 billion.

On the other hand, Romanians are reported to be the poorest citizens in the European Union, with financial assets of only 80,000 Danish Krona or equivalent to Rp. 184 million per person.
