Lions killed after escape from South Africa National Park | Abroad

Three of the seven lions escaped from Karoo National Park Monday morning. The rangers went after them after a report came in that sheep had been killed in a neighboring farm, a South African National Parks spokesman said.

The lions that broke loose were caught and returned to their habitat. Still, the king of animals outwitted the park employees. On Tuesday the animals escaped for a second time. The search was carried out with a helicopter, because it is quite a rough area.

The second escape also meant the end of the runaways, but also of the rest of the group. To address the problem and to protect the livestock, they had to be slaughtered, the ranger said. The seven animals were shot from the helicopter, according to News25. Other lions live in the park.
