For Manchester City defender John Stones, there is no wrong answer in the debate over whether Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo are the greatest footballer of all time. However, he himself sees Messi ahead.
“For me it’s Messi,” he told Collector during his appearance on Kit SPOX And OBJECTIVE to the question about the GOAT. “However, I think there is no right or wrong answer to this question, it is more a personal preference.”
Stones continued: “I would like to be as good on the ball as Messi and be able to do things like him when he scores. On the other hand, Ronaldo is great physically and scores in so many different ways. They are both like that. Good.”
The Englishman has met both players throughout his career. Most recently in the 2021/22 season, when he won with Manchester City against PSG, Messi’s club, and the Manchester derby against United with Ronaldo.
