Aircraft Lion Air JT 627, which was going to fly to Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, suffered damage to the cooling machine at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, MacassarSouth Sulawesi.

Passengers waiting to depart experienced overheating due to the plane’s coolant turning off. The video is viral on social media.

Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro agrees that there was damage.

It started when the aircraft operated by the Boeing 737-800NG registration PK-LJQ was preparing to be pushed back. The pilot then found that there were indications that the air conditioning system was not working optimally, which had an impact on the temperature in the aircraft cabin not as it should be.

“In this situation, the pilot decided to postpone the flight departure and asked the passengers to be lowered back to the airport waiting room,” said Danang in a press release, Wednesday (19/4).

Furthermore, said Danang, the cabin crew in charge of providing information to passengers and directing them to return to the waiting room at the airport while waiting for further information and developments.

“Checking and repairing the air conditioning system took approximately 90 minutes to be carried out by Lion Air technicians. In this case, the stages of work cannot be carried out quickly and instantly,” he explained.

Then after further repairs and inspections, said Danang, the plane was finally ready to operate again.

“Lion Air has dispatched all passengers on flight number JT-672 to Balikpapan at 11.20 WITA, using the same plane. The plane has landed normally,” he explained.
