Linda has often had to visit the hospital for her cancer treatment in the past year, but it was also intense at home. Fortunately, her friend Rolf was there for her. “That has been very important to me,” she explains in Aran on Tour. “I spent a while feeling sick to my stomach on the couch. And he was always there. Always cooking, always shopping, just doing everything. He said: I shouldn’t think about leaving.”

Her friends have also been there for her a lot. She was on her way to Nikkie de Jager when she was told she had cancer. Nikkie has lost her brother Mikai to ‘this terrible disease’, explains Linda. Besides, Nikkie had just been mugged at the time. “The funny thing is that if something so violent happens to both, you find the release in each other,” says Linda. “We always have a lot of laughs with each other, so we’re going to joke about it. (…) Like: did you think you had a good story? Well, I have a better story.”
