The 28th day of Ligue 1 started strong with a multiplex of five games on the program. Olympique Lyonnais won against Rennes (1-0) and put pressure on Lille, PSG and Monaco who play in the second part of the evening. AS Saint-Etienne, beaten by Lens at home (2-3), remains on the downward slope. What to remember from the multiplex of the 28th day of Ligue 1.

• Lyon timidly reassures itself
After the draw in Marseille (1-1) last weekend, Olympique Lyonnais was reassured by winning against Rennes (1-0) at home. After a mixed first period, the Lyonnais were able to recover. The entry of Houssem Aouar in the 58th minute was decisive. The 22-year-old midfielder managed to find the net, well served by captain Memphis Depay (74th). Not a great performance from Rudi Garcia’s players but three precious points that allow them to temporarily regain first place in the championship pending the matches of LOSC and PSG. After parting ways with their coach Julian Stéphan at the start of last week, Rennes have failed to recover. They remain in eight matches without a win in all competitions.
• The Greens in the hard
AS Saint-Etienne lost at home (2-3) against RC Lens. The two goals of Florian Sotoca on penalty (20th) and Arnaud Kalimuendo (24th) allowed the Lensois to quickly take the advantage of the game. The reduction in the score of Harold Moukoudi (40th) was not enough for the Greens who did not manage to return to the match. The Sang et Or managed to weigh down the score by scoring a third goal a few seconds before the final whistle thanks to a realization of David Costa (93rd). Denis Bouanga’s last goal on a penalty (94th) did not allow the Greens to return, the gap being already well widened.
Following this poor performance, the Stéphanois deplore a second consecutive defeat and are dangerously close to the relegation zone just five points from the first jump-off, Nîmes. The good operation is for Lens which manages, following the defeat of FC Metz (0-1) against Angers, to take fifth place in the standings and qualify provisionally for the first edition of the Europa Conference Conference.
• Brest and Nice without worry
Stade Brestois won (3-1) against Dijon, last in Ligue 1. Franck Honorat (17th), Steve Mounier (27th) and Irvin Cardona (40th) allowed the Brestois to win and to position themselves in 12th place in the ranking. OGC Nice for its part won against Nîmes (2-1). Amine Gouiri opened the scoring in the 5th minute to sign his eleventh goal in Ligue 1. At the forefront of the Nîmes attack, the 21-year-old striker is involved in sixteen goals this season with eleven goals and five assists. Thanks to this victory, the Niçois are in 11th place while Nîmes does not leave the red zone and retains his place of play-off.
