Lightning struck Chur – twice

When the lightning flashed in the sky early Wednesday evening, the Chur fire department went out – the lightning had struck a house on Kasernenstrasse. As the city police Chur confirmed on request, the fire department was on site with a lifeguard. One was not sure whether the attic had caught fire. The residents of the affected house at Kasernenstrasse 83 were therefore evacuated to the Westend restaurant. This is located on the ground floor of the building. There they waited until they were allowed to go back to their apartments.

The fire brigade gave the green light after just under an hour: during the climbing action on the roof, the emergency services had not discovered a fire. The attic was also not damaged. Only a few roof tiles were damaged, according to the Chur city police.

The situation was completely different when the Chur fire brigade was deployed again – in the late evening, the emergency services had to move out again. It really burned this time. During the thunderstorm in the early evening, lightning struck a tree on Rheinfelsstrasse. At first you didn’t notice that, said the Chur fire department commander.
