Lightning 2020 military exercise of the National Armed Forces Staff Battalion | Press release

Lightning 2020 military exercise of the National Armed Forces Headquarters Battalion

September 10, 2020.

The information was prepared by the great soldier Margarita Bunkše, a public relations specialist of the NAF Headquarters Battalion.

From September 14 to September 27, the Headquarters Battalion of the National Armed Forces (NAF) will organize field tactical exercises “Lightning 2020” in Riga and the vicinity of Riga within the framework of the military training cycle “Namejs 2020”.

Within the framework of “Lightning 2020”, the NAF Headquarters Battalion will improve alert response measures, command command capabilities and support to the armed forces in the field of communication and information systems, as well as field combat skills.

About 170 soldiers will take part in the military exercise “Lightning 2020”.

We draw your attention to the fact that there will be movements of soldiers and military equipment in and around Riga, which may cause temporary traffic inconveniences.

During training outside the landfills, only training ammunition and combat simulations will be used, which create noise but do not endanger human health and life. However, when unknown objects are found in the study places, it is forbidden to touch or move them.

It has already been reported that from August 15 to October 4, the NAF military training cycle “Namejs 2020” will take place throughout Latvia in order to test and improve the readiness of units to expand for national defense tasks both independently and within the collective defense system.
