«Lightness and stability, the gaze flies beyond the city» – Corriere.it

To see it from afar, ready to take off from the green lawn of Vairano Vidigulfo, in the Pavia area, it looks like a giant rugby ball placed in the center of the field. Only by getting closer can you perceive its actuality grandeur (over 70 meters for thousands of cubic meters of volume). the legendary Goodyear Blimp, a blue Zeppelin with yellow lettering that in these days, looking up to the sky, it is possible to see the skies around Milan. The last time was ten years ago. Promotional purposes, of course, but also a panoramic observation point for filming the Wep, the 2021 World Endurance Championship for prototype sports cars or Gran Turismo cars, scheduled at the Monza racetrack.

Milan observed from the windows of an airship is a suggestion that goes beyond commonplaces. Also because the sensation of flight itself makes the power of the air more perceptible than in an airplane, as does the presence of space around it. Upon departure, around 5 pm yesterday, it was therefore decided to skirt the metropolis on a flight that lasted about an hour and a half. After passing over Pavia, the muzzle points to the southern outskirts of Milan, above the Navigli, fading towards the west, up to the former Expo area.

The skyline of the skyscrapers, the unmistakable profiles of the city, from the Meazza stadium to the Velasca, do not obscure the other Milanese spectacle. Just wanting to look at it and Milan also shows us the beauty of its suburbs here immersed in the countryside. From 300 meters above sea level, the fields crossed by the canals seem to be irradiated with light. And the neighborhoods appear elegant in their regular and geometric shapes interspersed with narrow streets and framed by flower petals drawn by the motorway junctions. The silence over Milan is not only what welcomes the gaze towards the Madonnina, but also what opens it to the borders, which are more difficult to see.
