The General Assembly of the Mexican Soccer Federation approved the project of the owners of the Mexican Soccer to rescue the MX Ascent through a development league, in which there will be no rise or fall for the next six years, in addition to some other rules being stipulated as an economic punishment for Liga MX teams that finish in the last three places of the quotient table.
During the meeting in which representatives of the Liga MX, Ascenso MX, Premier League, Third Division and Amateur Sector, voted unanimously for the rescue of the silver category, which presented great financial problems during the last year.

“It is generally approved the rescue of the MX Promotion Division and the agreements made at the Liga MX and Ascenso MX assemblies are ratified, ”it was reported in a statement.
In addition to eliminate the rise and fall for the next six years, it was also determined that in the following season that will be debut for the Development or Expansion League, the 12 teams that already played in the category may participate, and three franchises from the Premier league.
On the other hand, it was agreed that the last three clubs in the Liga MX quotient table at the end of each season must pay a fine as punishment, as they will not be demoted.
The team that finishes in last place must pay 120 million pesos, as it had been happening since 2018, the penultimate place will have a fine of 70 million pesos and the penultimate place only 50 million.
In the coming weeks there will be work meetings to determine the new name of the league, as well as its regulations and new guests.
