Lifelong demanded against Onur K. for family murder in Etten-Leur

The Public Prosecution Service has demanded a life sentence against a man suspected of murdering his wife (31), mother (65), son (6) and daughter (2). According to the Public Prosecution Service, Onur K. (34) committed a “senseless act against defenseless victims”.

The victims were arrested in their home in Etten-Leur last March found it. A few days later, K. was found on the street in the village detained. The OM thinks that K. first drugged his wife and two children with pills. Then he would have strangled his mother, wife and children with hands and cords. According to the Public Prosecution Service, DNA of the victims and K. has been found on several cables and cords.

Because K. did not want to say anything in court, many questions remain unanswered, writes Broadcasting Brabant. After his arrest, K. confessed to the murder of his mother. The other three murders were committed by unknown persons, according to K.

Statement suspect implausible

After his arrest, he said that people ‘from abroad’ had killed his wife and children. He said he discovered the bodies when he got home. After that, he did not call an ambulance or police, but asked his mother if she could come home.

K.’s mother saw the three bodies lying there on a bed. According to K., she became hysterical and started hitting. Then he killed his mother, the suspect told police. But the detectives found no trace of other perpetrators. The Public Prosecution Service therefore finds K.’s alternative scenario “completely implausible”.

What did happen and what motive K. had for his act remains unclear. It has come to light that the suspect was deeply in debt at the time of the murders due to a gambling addiction. The OM suspects that K. committed the murders “apparently because he saw no way out of his financial situation and did not want to lose face.”

Fully accountable

K. was examined by experts, but they could not find any disorder, besides his gambling addiction. According to the judiciary, he must therefore be held fully accountable for the murders and tbs is not an option.

The suspect’s lawyer asked for acquittal for the killing of the woman and children. His mother’s death should be seen as manslaughter and not as murder, the lawyer said. The court will rule on November 4. K. has said that he does not want to be there.
