Liepaja International Star Festival offers two more concerts online

We have already reported that at a time when concert halls are closed and spectators are not allowed to attend cultural events in person, LSO provides every music lover with the opportunity to watch all the concerts of the Liepaja International Star Festival that took place this summer free of charge.

Last weekend, in the concert series “Stars CLOSER”, the orchestra offered to enjoy “Latvian vocal chamber music” singers Ilze Grevele-Skaraine and Rinalds Kandalincev, as well as pianist Agnese Egliņa’s concerto, pianist Georgis Osokins’ solo program where LSO conductor Atvars Lakstīgala together with pianist Reini Zariņš played Johannes Brahms’ Second Piano Concerto, while soprano Vida Miknevičute performed arias of world-famous operas.

This weekend, LSO continues the concert series “Stars CLOSER”.

An online premiere of the concert “Liza Kereselidze and the Xylem Trio” is expected on Friday, November 5, at 7 p.m. It is a touching, thrilling, subtle and exciting meeting with the music of Georgian master Guy Kanchel and the musicians of the Xylem Trio, who, together with the rising Georgian jazz star Lisa Kereselidze, virtuously balances on the edges of classical, jazz and world music.

On Saturday, November 6, at 7 pm, the world-renowned tenor Alexander Antonenko in cooperation with the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra and its chief conductor Gintars Rinkevics will delight with the repertoire of famous operas from Tchaikovsky, Lehar, Rossini, Wagner and other authors.

In March 2022, the Liepaja International Star Festival will take place for the 30th time.

It was originally founded as the Festival of Piano Stars by conductor Imants Resnis, LSO’s long-term director, and has already attracted about 200 famous soloists from all over the world to collaborate with the orchestra.
