Embarrassing faux pas from Lidl!

The discounter wanted to cheer up its customers with a funny Facebook post at Christmas time. But a detail in the post from Lidl made many users suspicious.

Lidl declares Christmas over – customers confused

“And Christmas is over again,” writes Lidl on Facebook. “At least one thing remains for the time being: the pounds from the feast. How much did you escalate this year? ”The discounter then referred to its own collection of recipes online. But there is a small inconsistency in this Facebook post that immediately catches the customer’s eye.

articlebody:textmodule) –>

Because the post was published on December 26th at 10 a.m. – before Christmas Day was even half over. And yet Lidl writes in its article that Christmas is already over?

This is Lidl:

  • The first Lidl branches were opened in Ludwigshafen in the 1970s
  • In 1999 Lidl was the first discounter to introduce scanner registers
  • Lidl has branches in almost every country in Europe
  • even in the USA there are around 100 branches
  • around 160,000 employees worldwide, around 83,000 in Germany (as of 2018)

Has the discounter possibly published a prepared Facebook post too early by mistake? And how long does the Christmas season actually last? Enough talking point for users in the comments.

How long is the Christmas season?

“Christmas will be over tomorrow and not me today, dear Lidl. Make a note! ”, A customer makes clear on the same day. But does Christmas really end on December 27th? Not all users are of the same opinion.

+++ Lidl: Because of annoying radio advertising – customer goes crazy! +++

“Christmas goes until January 6th, even if there are a few working days in between,” said another user. But even the Epiphany in the new year is not the end of the festive season for everyone. “Then you can start again on the 7th,” writes another user and with a wink refers to the Orthodox Church, which only celebrates the birth of Christ on the night of January 6th to 7th.

Lidl itself has not yet spoken out under the post. After all, not all users were only excited about this detail. Among the 350 or so comments there are enough answers to the actual “food coma” topic of the article. But the discounter may still text its Christmas posts a little differently next year. (at)
