Last year we were able to do one mention of a possible new type of smartphone. Fortunately, the development around this smartphone has not stood still. The model with a roll-up screen may actually be launched next March, according to sources.
Coming seems definitive
LG seems to be working hard on some interesting new approaches to smartphone design. The manufacturer’s first smartphone with a screen that can be rolled out to become larger is reported to be launched as early as March 2021, Android Central reports. The mysterious “rollable smartphone” was already teased at the end of the LG Wing announcement and is part of LG’s Explorer project.
In the teaser video, we see a hint of the design of the roll-up screen smartphone, and more specifically, how the screen will roll out to get bigger. At the moment nothing is known about this innovative smartphone in terms of specifications or price.
Explorer-project
The new smartphone and the LG Wing are part of LG’s project internally referred to as Project B, known as the Explorer Project. It focuses on finding new ways to approach smartphone design, bringing innovations to the way smartphones look, feel and are used. In this regard, the LG Wing brought something unique to the table. It remains to be seen how the new LG roll-up screen smartphone will be received and whether it can boost sales for the company.
