LG is also replacing OLED TVs in the Benelux due to the risk of overheating

Do you have an LG OLED television from 2016, 2017, 2018 or 2019? Then there is a chance that the television will overheat. LG has previously confirmed this problem for televisions that were sold in Asia, but users in the Benelux are now also being notified that the power card of their television can be replaced.

A large number of OLED TVs that LG has marketed in recent years can have to deal with overheating. This is due to a problem with the power board. For this reason, LG has set up a voluntary replacement program for all models and owners of the affected models will automatically see a pop-up with information about this on their television.

It concerns the following models:

  • 2016: OLED65E6, OLED65G6, OLED77G6
  • 2017: OLED65B7, OLED65C7, OLED65E7, OLED65G7, OLED65W7, OLED77G7, OLED77W7
  • 2018: OLED65G8, OLED65W8, OLED77C8, OLED77W8
  • 2019: OLED65W9, OLED77B9, OLED77C9, OLED77W9 (not applicable to devices starting with serial number 910.911, 912 or 0)

LG indicates that the chance that a device overheats is small, but the company still offers owners of the devices the option to have the power card replaced free of charge. You can register for the replacement program via the LG website. It is not clear whether all models will be repaired at home or if some models have to be shipped. A user signs in Tweakers that his W7 series oled TV will at least be repaired at home.
