Lewis died – father convicted again

A man from England strangled his son Lewis Turner, just two years old, at their home in Dewsbury in 2001, leaving him with permanent brain damage.

Turner survived and was cared for by his adoptive parents.

In 2002, his father was imprisoned for eight years, and served five years and four months in prison, before being released. But in 2019, Turner died at just 19 years old at the home of the adoptive parents, reports the BBC.

Convicted again

The cause of death was found to be caused by a feeding tube.

Just a few weeks later, he contracted an infection.

Judge Richard Jacobs told his father:

– Your attack and the brain damage he received was a significant factor in his death.

Found guilty

The man was sentenced to life in prison on March 28 this year, after being found guilty in a trial at Leeds Crown Court in England.

“This is a completely tragic case where a child has been deprived of his life by his parents, who should have been there to take care of and protect it,” police inspector James Entwistle told the BBC.

Following the sentencing, Turner’s adoptive family told the local Huddersfield Daily Examiner that he was greatly missed.

– We tried to give him as normal a life as possible, despite the serious injuries he had sustained. We are grateful that we were able to have so many fun and happy moments with Lewis, and create memories that we will never forget.
