The Moroccan winger scored his fifth goal in the competition and became independent at the top of the table for the Gunners. Wirtz added the third goal before the break.
Leverkusen coach Alonso deployed all the supports from the beginning, only captain Hradecký was replaced in goal by Kovář, as usual in cups. The Czech goalkeeper was out of work for most of the match, yet he scored one good save in both halves and kept the first clean sheet in the competition.

Both architects of the fourth goal soon took turns, and the duel was only played out for the final half hour. Home striker Adam Hložek spent the entire game on the bench.
Bayer is close to its second triumph in the German Cup, which it won only in 1993. In the final, it will again be a big favorite against Kaiserslautern, which on Tuesday, with the help of midfielder Filip Kaloč, defeated third-division Saarbrücken 2-0.
