Leverksuen points to Ajer from Celtic to reinforce the central defense – Rayototal

German soccer magazine Kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen is once again looking to Celtic Glasgow as defensive reinforcements.

The towering Norwegian center-back Kristoffer Ajer appears to be on the move this summer. The twenty-three-year-old’s contract with Celtic expires in the summer of 2022 and the people of Glasgow are said to be eager to cash in on him during the current period.

The center-back, who compares favorably to Virgil van Dijk, is worth € 4 million on current transfer market listings. An article on the website of the German soccer magazine Kicker claims that the Scottish champions are asking for compensation of around € 15 million.

Leverkusen closed a deal with Celtic not long ago, buying Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong for € 11 million during the January transfer window. Interestingly, Frimpong’s market value was also € 4 million at the time.

Die Werkself was clearly able to take over Frimpong through an oversupply as the deadline approached. Certainly, things will not be so simple this time. Several wealthy Premier League clubs have also been linked to the six-footer talent.

The German report makes specific reference to the newly promoted Norwich City and Newcastle United.

“It’s clear that something is going to happen this summer,” says Ajer from the Norwegian team’s training ground. «It is in the interest of both parties. The target remains one of the top five European competitions. ‘
