Letter to the National Police Chief Viral, TNI General and Police Investigator Internally Examined

The TNI Army (AD) and Polri will internally examine the letter from the Inspector of Military Command (Irdam) XIII/Merdeka Brigadier General Junior Tumilaar to the National Police Chief. The letter asked the Manado Police not to investigate the Babinsa who was accompanying Ari Tahiru (67), who was on a land case.

The examination of Brigadier General Junior will be carried out by the TNI AD Military Police Center. Puspomad suspected that Junior’s statement did not match the facts.

“Regarding the viral handwritten open letter addressed to the National Police Chief, as well as the circulation of a video recording of a statement made by Brigadier General Junior Tumilaar on social media, the Central Commander of the Army Military Police (Danpuspomad) will conduct an examination of Irdam XIII/Merdeka,” he said. Danpuspomad, Lt. Gen. Chandra W Sukotjo, in a written statement, Tuesday (21/9/2021).

The examination of Brigadier General TNI Junior Tumilaar will be conducted at the Puspomad Headquarters, Jakarta. “Regarding the allegations that the things conveyed contain news that is not in accordance with the existing facts,” said Chandra.

Then, North Sulawesi Police (Sulut) revealed that the invitation for clarification from the Manado Police to Babinsa Winangun had not been realized until now because it was considered not through cross-institutional coordination. The investigator who gave the invitation for clarification is now being processed by the North Sulawesi Regional Police Propam.
“An internal process is being carried out by the Head of North Sulawesi Police Propam,” said Head of North Sulawesi Police Public Relations Kombes Jules Abraham Abast in his statement to detikcom on Tuesday (21/9/2021).

For the rest, Jules said that the polemic on the invitation for clarification to the Babinsa Winangun Atas had been completed. He also emphasized that the coordination between the North Sulawesi Regional Police and Kodam XIII/Merdeka remained solid.

“Communication, cooperation, and collaboration between the TNI-Polri in North Sulawesi are very solid and synergistic. It can be seen from the situation and conditions of security and order in North Sulawesi that are very conducive, including the handling of COVID-19 in North Sulawesi is running very effectively, and the TNI-Polri and the local government remain synergistic,” he said.
