Lessors demand that Russia return more than 500 aircraft – Ukrainian news, Transport

Foreign lessors demanded that Russia return more than 500 aircraft that are in the fleets of Russian airlines. About it declared Minister of Transport of Russia Vitaly Savelyev during a meeting of the Federation Council.

“Requests have already been received for the return of more than 500 foreign-made aircraft,” he said.

The head of the Russian Ministry of Transport also said that the government should decide on the purchase of aircraft from foreign lessors worth $20 billion. According to him, airlines have so far unsuccessfully tried to negotiate on this issue.

“The company’s leasing payments must continue to be paid, but lessors do not want to sell aircraft to us,” the minister said.

According to him, the airlines have so far unsuccessfully tried to negotiate on this issue. He also said that in addition to the volume of the buyback, there are also letters of credit in the amount of approximately 200 billion rubles for all airlines.

Savelyev noted that a way out of the situation should be found before March 28, when, in fact, the default of the airlines will take place.

In total, 1367 aircraft are operated in Russia. Of these, 739 are registered in foreign registries. Foreign lessors own 515 aircraft. Russia has lost 78 aircraft that were arrested abroad due to sanctions.
