Leo Conti, Authorized Officer and Marketing Manager at AEV, hopes that we can return to an old normal in 2021. In an interview, he explains why he has a certain residual concern.
B4B WIRTSCHAFTSLEBEN SCHWABEN: What is your forecast for the 2021 financial year in relation to the Bavarian Swabia region?
Leo Conti: It will be an extremely exciting year that will depend on many factors that we unfortunately cannot influence or only to a limited extent. If politicians manage to find a sensible way of dealing with the pandemic and we can return to an old normal early on, I would be optimistic that the year 2021 will turn out to be significantly better than 2020 again. However, I still have a certain residual concern that national and pan-European financial policy could produce a serious crash and that some (including well-known) companies will fall by the wayside. For Augsburg and Bavarian Swabia, it is important to support regional trade as much as possible!

In addition to the overall economic situation, the approval of major events in 2021 will play an important role for us. We hope that no further restrictions will be necessary in this regard by late summer at the latest. If our long-standing, loyal partners get through this crisis well, I don’t expect a major slump in sponsorship. If the pandemic keeps us under control any longer, we will have to find solutions to remain so attractive – we have a few ideas on the drawer, but we hope that they can stay there. Spectators are the icing on the cake in sports and especially in team sports.

At least I wish that the restrictions can disappear as soon as possible and that an old normalcy awaits us again – I have no desire for a new normality or even a reset. With every understanding of caution and prevention, a way must be found that life is also worth living. If it is possible to reliably protect the risk groups, and if drugs and vaccinations are further developed, nothing should speak against the old freedom and self-determination in 2021.
