Leipzig VS PSG: Keylor Navas threatened to miss

Lisbon

Bad news for Paris Saint Germain who will face RB Leipzig. The main goalkeeper Keylor Navas most likely sidelined with a hamstring injury.

PSG’s dramatic breakout to the semifinals of the Champions League, Thursday (13/8/2020) early morning WIB yesterday had to be paid handsomely. Navas was injured in the final 15 minutes of the match and was replaced by Sergio Rico.

Navas limped off the pitch and caused concern for Les Parisiens. After the match, Navas underwent an examination by the medical team and there was a problem with his hamstring muscle.

As a result, the goalkeeper from Costa Rica was in doubt when PSG met Leipzig at the Estadio Da Luz, Wednesday (19/8/2020) in the morning WIB. Navas must hunt with time to recover his condition.

“The results of the examination and MRI confirmed that there was a muscle problem in his hamstrings,” said the official PSG statement.

“His condition will be checked again on Saturday and he is doubtful about playing on Tuesday.”

Navas’s injury is certainly detrimental to PSG because he is the team’s main goalkeeper this season. The 34-year-old has appeared 34 times in all competitions this season, conceding 25 goals and 19 clean sheets.

His replacement is no less okay, Sergio Rico, who won the Europa League trophy with Sevilla. But, in terms of quality, Rico is certainly below Keylor Navas. This season, Rico has made nine appearances with six goals conceded and five clean sheets. In the Champions League, Rico made two appearances against Galatasaray and Atalanta.

PSG are at least still worried about Marco Verratti and Thiago Silva’s injured condition. Both of them were also said to be absent in the semi-final match against RB Leipzig.
