Is the team even falling apart now? BILD knows: The ELF bosses had forbidden the other clubs to talk to Leipzig players about a change – until today! The uncertainty is great, but so is the interest. Because: good German players are rare on the market. “For two weeks now, our players have been fighting back and forth. Other representatives from the league contacted our service providers illegally,” says Heisler. The employment contracts are valid. “If a player changes, he would first be blocked,” adds the boss.
Players should turn in equipment
It fits with the chaos: Leipzig’s players were instructed to hand in their equipment at the end of the game on Sunday. Helmets and shoulder pads should be stacked at the cabins. Heisler: “We need the things for an inventory. In the event of a takeover or insolvency, it must be clear what is going on!” However, 70 percent of the players did not comply with the request.
In addition to ELF commissioner Patrick Esume, German NFL legend Björn Werner was also present in Leipzig. The former Indianapolis Colts defensive end now co-owns Berlin Thunder. He was particularly impressed by the Leipzig fans, who wouldn’t stop singing long after the game was over. “It means a lot to them. They are sad, they want it to continue,” he says to BILD.
