Leica created the surprise by announcing to market its own smartphone. Until now, the optics manufacturer was best known in the smartphone world for the partnerships forged with certain major brands such as Huawei for the optimization of the software part related to photo processing.
Finally, since last week, we can get our hands on the Leitz Phone 1, Leica’s first smartphone … which is ultimately not an unknown model.

In fact, it is a variation of Sharp’s AQUOS R6 presented last May and exclusively sold in Japan for the moment. But while both devices offer a one-inch photo sensor, Leica’s smartphone has its own lens.
The Leitz Phone 1 thus has a Leica signature lens with a Summicron aspherical lens at f / 1.9. The layout of the photo block is also different, as is the price since the Leica smartphone is charged € 1,400.
For the moment, we do not really know if the performance of the smartphone in the photo is commensurate with its price and the beat organized by the brand.
