Lee Seung-woo, Portugal travel around the K-League transfer rumor

Lee Seung-woo (23, Sint Trawiden), who has been advancing into the K-League in professional football, is on loan to Portugal’s Primeira Liga (1st division) Portimonence.

The Portuguese League Secretariat announced on the 2nd (Korean time) that the winter transfer market was closed and Lee Seung-woo’s transfer documents to Portimonence had been received.

Earlier, Portuguese media Hecord and others first reported his transfer news and reported that “Lee Seung-woo will be on loan until the end of this season, and the contract includes a complete transfer option.”

The Portimonence club turned to Lee Seung-woo when it failed to sign Sporting striker Gonzalo Plata (21, Ecuador), and the contract was signed shortly before the transfer market closes.

Lee Seung-woo, who was from the Spanish FC Barcelona youth team, transferred to Sint Trawydon in Belgium’s main pillar league in August 2019 after passing Italian Serie A Verona, but the team’s position is narrowing.

He scored only two goals in 13 games in the first half of this season, and has not been on the list since manager Peter Maes took office last December.

On December 13, last year, he was replaced in the second half against Charleroi and played for about 22 minutes, and then missed all nine games.

With the transfer in mind, Lee Seung-woo was in contact with K-League 1, Suwon Samsung, Jeonbuk Hyundai, and others to explore the possibility of entering Korea.

Prior to this, foreign media reported that some clubs in the Turkish and Spanish second division and Israeli league showed interest in him, but eventually decided to continue the challenge in Portugal.

The official announcement of the club is expected soon.

Portimonens is in 13th place in the Primeira Liga this season with 4 wins, 3 draws and 9 losses. Japanese goalkeeper Shuichi Gonda and defender Koki Anzai are playing for the team. yunhap news
