Lecture on ‘Women’s Heart’ delivered by Rotary Epe – Stedendriehoek

EPE – Number 1 cause of death in women? A heart disease. Although awareness of this is going in the right direction, it is still important that people are well informed about this. Rotary Club Epe will therefore hold a lecture on the women’s heart on April 4. Harriette Verwey, formerly a leading cardiologist, gives this lecture at Kulturhus EGW in Epe.

Until now, little research has been done in women with suspected heart complaints. Did you know, for example, that complaints are different in younger women (i.e. before menopause)? And do you know what your risk is? With a good lifestyle, you are doing your heart a good service. Marja van Rheenen, who co-organizes this meeting as program commissioner: “Harriette has an enormous amount of knowledge about the female heart. We are happy that she is willing to share this knowledge with us.” There will be ample opportunity to ask questions during the evening. After the lecture, attendees can meet each other while enjoying a drink and snack.”

Harriette Verwey has been a leading cardiologist for 33 years. She worked at the Leiden University Medical Center throughout her career. She was deputy head of the Heart Disease Department for many years and was responsible for the use of the assist device in patients rejected for heart transplantation. Harriette was one of the first advocates of a different approach to the women’s heart and gender medicine in the Netherlands.

Tickets are available online at www.rotaryepe.nl/vrouwenhart. They cost 12.50 euros each. For this you will receive access to the lecture, coffee/tea upon arrival and a drink and snack afterwards. For every ticket sold, 2.50 euros will go to the Women’s Heart Foundation.
