So far it is not known who will be relegated to Serie B next season. However, two teams have been confirmed for promotion to A leaguethat is Lecce and Cremonese.
The regular season of Serie B 2021/22 ended last night, after the 38th giornata was held. Who will get the two promotional tickets will be directly determined until the last week.
Until week 37, Leece topped the standings with a score of 68 points, followed by Monza who had collected 67 points, followed by Cremonese (66 points) who was in third position. In this condition, anything can still happen.
In the last week, Lecce met Pordenone, while Monza traveled to Perugia headquarters. As for Cremonese, they also made an away trip to Como’s headquarters.
Drama ensued. Lecce won 1-0, sealed the Serie B title with 71 points and returned to Serie A next season after being relegated in the 2019/20 season. However, Monza lost 0-1 after Gabriele Ferrarini broke into their net in the 85th minute.
While in another match, Cremonese managed to silence Como 2-1. The results above make Cremonese move up to second place in the final standings with 69 points and won promotion to Serie A for the first time in 26 years.
Meanwhile, Monza slipped to third place, and had to go through the playoffs with Pisa, Brescia, Ascoli, Benevento, and Frosinone who finished 4-8 in succession. The Serie B playoffs will take place on May 13-29. Only one of the six teams above are eligible to qualify for Serie A next season.
