Difficult for the moment to determine with exactitude the origin of the fire which ravaged the house located at 82, rue des Bosquets, in Audun-le-Tiche, this Tuesday, October 27. According to the first elements collected by the firefighters, a saucepan left on the fire could be the cause.
It was almost 9 o’clock when the flames began to lick the ceiling from the ground floor. The only occupant, an 85-year-old lady, could do nothing. Alerted by the smoke, a 74-year-old neighbor then rushed inside the home to save what could have been. The two seniors managed to get out of the house before it fully ignited.

Avoid any spread
Arrived quickly on the scene, the firefighters of Audun-le-Tiche did their utmost to contain the fire in this one house. The characteristics of the street, where the houses are stuck to each other, made fear the worst.

Under the command of Lieutenant Bouzid Djebar, 16 firefighters who came as reinforcements from the barracks of Amnéville, Thionville and Hayange fought against the wind and the flames. After more than an hour of effort, they managed to control the fire and prevent it from spreading, but the house was completely destroyed.
Bothered by the smoke, the octogenarian and his neighbor who came to his aid were transported to hospital for check-ups.
