Le Matin – Covid-19: After Benslimane, Mohammedia closes its beaches

After the province of Benslimane, the neighboring prefecture of Mohammedia is the second local authority in the region of Casablanca-Settat to announce the closure of its beaches as of this Friday at midnight, amid fears of a greater spread of the new coronavirus (Covid-19).

By decision of the governor of the prefecture Hicham M’daghri Alaoui, swimming will be totally prohibited in the beaches of Mohammedia and Ain Harouda, where the local administrative authorities and the security services, each in their area of competence, will ensure the application. of this measure, in coordination with the provincial equipment services and local authorities.

The authorities of Mohammedia and Benslimane obviously fear a rush on their beaches for residents of Casablanca, following the government’s decision to close the beaches of the metropolis, Dar Bouazza and Paloma, near Ain Harrouda, in reaction to the appearance of new infectious foci.

The government had taken several restrictive measures the day before to limit the spread of the virus in the cities of Casablanca, Marrakech and Béni Mellal.

The regions of Casablanca-Settat and Marrakech-Safi are the most affected by the pandemic, which has recorded a surge in cases of contamination for two weeks in Morocco.
