Lawyer of Rachel Hazes: “Roxeanne simply does not want to understand documents about inheritance” | Showbiz

ShowbizRachel Hazes faced her daughter Roxeanne in court in Utrecht on Thursday afternoon. Roxeanne claims that Rachel is falsely posing as the heiress of folk singer André Hazes, who died in 2004. “She knew very well what she was doing.”

Rachel was present at the court in Utrecht at the case. Daughter Roxeanne does not. At the start, lawyer Maarten Kox read a statement from Roxeanne about her absence. “That is not out of unwillingness, but purely for emotional reasons. I can’t afford to be on the bottom again as a result of my mother’s behavior… I’m very scared… You may know that this has been holding me hostage for months. This is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do in my life. After eighteen years, all present are entitled to the truth about my father’s estate.”

The case was brought not only by Roxeanne, but also by Rop Israël, the man who was the willful administrator after the death of Hazes senior in September 2004. Israel also attended the meeting. Why he comes up with claims all these years later about the inheritance that would not have been properly arranged, also puzzled Rachel. Earlier he would have said “that she owns 100 percent of everything,” she said.

“André sr. and Rachel were in divorce”

According to Roxeanne and her lawyers, the will of the folk singer contained a special clause, namely that Rachel would not inherit anything if she had separated from André senior or if divorce proceedings had been started – the latter would have been the case. That would mean that only his children are entitled to the inheritance.

Lawyer Kox said in court on Thursday afternoon that Rachel had started divorce proceedings at the time and later withdrawn them, however: not before, but a few months after Andre Sr.’s death. “She knew exactly what she was doing. Just a few days after Hazes’ death, she registered as director of the BV.”

In a long and complicated account, both Roxeanne’s lawyers (Maarten Kox and Maarten Russchen) then explained how shrewd Rachel Hazes bombed herself into heir and earns tons of money every year. “And Roxeanne doesn’t want her childhood photos to be in books and private shots to appear in movies.”

They also think that Rachel has not been honest about any debts that there would have been at the time and about the total assets that could be divided. Kox: “Van Galen (Kox invariably uses Rachel’s maiden name, ed.) has always wrongly claimed that there were debts at the time.” Roxeanne and her brother André were still small children at the time. Roxeanne demands access to all documents and also demands that her mother no longer enter into agreements as her father’s heir.

Too bad Roxeanne isn’t here to answer questions

The other side, of course, sees it differently. The entire estate of Hazes would be divided in 2005, with Rachel getting ‘all the goods’ and managing the rights to music, books, any theater shows and whatnot. That is her job to this day. Roxeanne and André Jr., who were still minors at the time, received a claim on their share of the inheritance. The impending divorce that daughter Roxeanne and her lawyers are now fighting for was already over before Andre Sr. passed away.

“As a daughter, Roxeanne knows that very well, of course,” said Rachel’s lawyer Royce de Vries. “Too bad she’s not here to answer questions about that.” De Vries cited, among other things, a performance by André Sr. at ‘Barend en Van Dorp’ in April 2004, in which he shows another tattoo of Rachel. According to De Vries, this whole procedure seems to have arisen because Roxeanne “simply does not want to understand” the documents about the estate.

Rachel said in her final word that she hopes “it’s clear for Roxeanne” after today. “Deep in her heart she knows that I always want the best for my children.”

The preliminary relief judge in Utrecht will rule on February 23.

Tired band for a long time

Roxeanne and Rachel have had a difficult relationship for some time, but it reached a low point last year when the singer told in ‘Dear singers’ how she had to miss her mother immediately after her father’s death. Roxeanne was only 11 years old at the time. “Just when you need her so much. I carried a picture of my mom and dad with me every night, and said to it crying, ‘Please come back.’”
