The native of Bordeaux, now living in Nîmes, was a laureate of the Groupe Dépêche Foundation. He hopes to realize his dream of working in the field of home automation.

Winner of the Groupe Dépêche Foundation grant in 2019, Jérémy Chandru is preparing to complete his BTS domotics at the Dhuoda high school, in Nîmes. At almost 23 years old, the latter arrived in the Gard almost four years ago, after some family problems.

Out of school for a year

Originally, Jérémy Chandru was from Bordeaux. In his tumultuous life course, he experienced dropping out of school for a year. “My parents have separated. My father had the good idea to get together with the neighbor. He wanted to bring us together under the same house and he took me out of school. For a year, I took a year off, against my will.

During these few months of forced isolation, Jérémy Chandru is bored: “They told me if I was not happy I could leave. I did it the next day.

In 2017, he put his suitcases down in Nîmes, where the parents of his then girlfriend offered to host him. After a few months in vocational training, he returned to the benches of the Mistral high school in April 2018 where he joined the first in the electricity sector. Upon obtaining his baccalaureate in 2019, he became a laureate of the Dépêche foundation and joined the Dhuoda high school.

A click in third

His dream ? Work in home automation and the field of connected objects at home. “Nowadays, we love everything that is smartphone and pilot everything with it. I had the click during the oral presentation of my internship report in third.“However, the studies will not be completed with obtaining the BTS. He has four years left.

Indeed, Jérémy Chandru wishes to turn to a preparatory class of one year in engineering school. According to him, his professional training background could put him in difficulty. “I want to do it to get back on my level, explains the young man. I want to have the theoretical background like maths and physics, so as not to be lost.

“I know where I want to go”

The native of Bordeaux started his prep program in his spare time. “I know where I want to go. I’ve always had this mentality of going for what I wanted.“This summer, he wants to find a student job.

Otherwise, he already knows how to deal with it. “If I can’t find anything, the program for my two summer months will be to revise for prep.“However, he doesn’t expect any fun.”I have an average of 18 today. If I have 6 in prep, it will already be fine.
